There have been multiple reports on the fate of "Grand Theft Auto 6", but the reason behind it is attributed to multiple factors. We now take a look at another possible basis of delay for the beloved video game installment.

Reasons of Delay

Previously, game publisher and developer Rockstar Games had announced that the main reason why the company is not releasing any concrete updates regarding "Grand Theft Auto 6" is that they are still focusing on "Grand Theft Auto 5". They want their fans to do the same as well, as the developers are still in the process of making several updates for the game.

There is no doubt that the company is still gaining huge profit from "Grand Theft Auto 5", making it harder to let go. However, another rumor floating around in the web suggests that the delay is due to some financial issues with the developer. If proven true, then "Grand Theft Auto 6" will just be fine, given the track record and profit yield of the previous installments in its franchise.

Budget Issues?

One of the reports suggests that "Grand Theft Auto 5" had already cost $265 million for Rockstar Games to develop. This now raises the question of how much more could the company shell out for the development and improvement of its sequel. There have been strong rumors suggesting that "Grand Theft Auto 6" will be supporting both virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. With these features alone, the publisher definitely has to cough up a handsome amount to finally perfect the craft.

However, with the way that "Grand Theft Auto 5" performed with market reception, this would not be a huge issue for the publishers. Just within the first 24 hours of its release, the fifth installment of the beloved crime video game franchise has garnered over $800 million in revenues. Suffice to say, this already covers a lot more than its development budget.

Today, with the increasing interest and investment on both VR and AR technologies, "Grand Theft Auto 6" will surely yield profit enough to compensate for its budget allotment. The hype for the game is still growing and fans continue to clamor for the sequel. Given this, "Grand Theft Auto 6" is expected to bring in the much-needed money to cover its bases.

The year 2018 seems to be a common denominator among the rumored release dates of the "Grand Theft Auto 6". If this were true, then the fan base of the game would just have grown a lot bigger than what it is now. The PlayStation VR and other virtual reality platforms would have an even bigger user population, and the technology would have been more refined by then. With all these, fans are optimistic that "Grand Theft Auto 6" will deliver one of the richest gaming experiences around.
