'Grand Theft Auto V' Is All-time Best-Selling Video Game in the U.S.

Take-Two Interactive has announced that "Grand Theft Auto V" is the best-selling video game of all time in the U.S.

"Grand Theft Auto V has now sold in more than 85 million units," the game publisher indicated in its FY 2018 second quarter financial report. "According to The NPD Group, Grand Theft Auto V is now the all-time best-selling video game, both in revenues and units, based on combined U.S. digital and physical sales across PC, console and portable."

At least 10 percent of the sales can be attributed to Steam owners, reports say. Though that figure is already large, it is merely a small piece of a much bigger pie.

The fifth main installment in the open-world mission-based franchise launched in 2013, and is still sustaining its full price, $60. Though it has been nearly three years since its launch, many gamers still favor the title. At the day's peak, user count reportedly reaches more than 55,000.

The continued success of "Grand Theft Auto V" is often rumored to be the reason why a sequel has yet to be announced. The ongoing development of new content by Rockstar makes many wonders if a sixth title is even in the making.

The developers regularly add new cost-free content to the title. Aside from maintaining the game, the studio adds new modes, cars, and more ways to pile up virtual cash.

Most recently, Rockstar launched a new update which came with a new P-45 Nokota single-seater plane. They also brought in a one versus one Dogfight mode, a few discounts, and a Premium Stunt Race and Time Trial.

The RPG in Dogfight mode, as well as the race and trial, will be available for a limited time only, until Nov. 13.

The success of "Grand Theft Auto V" is frequently attributed to its online multiplayer feature, which many gamers favor.
