'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 News, Spoilers: Jerrika Hinton on Stephanie's 'Callous' Decision, Possible Departure; Sara Ramirez to Exit 'Grey's'?

Dr. Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) has always been laser-focused on advancing her career (except for that time when she dated Avery [Jesse Williams]), but the previous episode of "Grey's Anatomy" saw the talented neuro resident being a whole other level of ruthless.

In "You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side," Kyle (guest star Wilmer Valderrama), Steph's new love interest, landed back at Grey Sloan with a new tumor. After being thrown off his case by Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) because her relationship with the patient presents a clear conflict of interest, Steph decided to break up with her beau and left him a note informing him of her decision.

Entertainment Weekly recently caught up with Hinton, who admitted that she had a bit of a struggle with Steph's "callous act."

"I had such strong feelings about that," the actress admitted. "I did have a lot of conversation with [the writers] about the fact that that is a beyond callous act. Even though I can find justification for it, and I can understand why she did it, but the way she did it was a struggle to integrate into her character."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hinton also spoke about the show's upcoming finale and said that it doesn't set up a possible departure for her character.

"The finale shines the light on some other storylines, leaving Stephanie's emotional journey unresolved," she said.

Meanwhile, "Grey's" star Sara Ramirez, who has played Dr. Callie Torres since 2006, appeared to have announced that she is leaving the medical drama.

On Wednesday, April 27, the actress tweeted, "That's a wrap for Doctor #CallieTorres #Season13 #GreysAnatomy #ThankYou all for an enriching & unforgettable #Rollercoaster ride!"

According to EW, Shondaland has not released a comment about the tweet. And while some see Ramirez's post as a negotiating ploy, others see it as nothing more than a joke. As EW notes, Ramirez posted a similar tweet in 2014.

"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
