'GTA 6' Release Date Rumours: Will It Release In 2018?

Rumours about the release date of "GTA 6" say that the game should be out in 2018 and that would coincide with the arrival of new generation consoles. Rockstar is still releasing the "GTA 5" DLCs and is occupied with fixing the bugs and issues cropping up with "GTA 5."

Rockstar released "GTA 5" for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2013 so fans are looking at a possible 2018 launch for "GTA 6" as a five-year gap is reasonable between the two games.

The other rumours on "GTA 6" are about the type of protagonists who will be featured, the setting of the game and new additional story content.

There have been speculations that "GTA 6" might possibly have a female protagonist. The portrayal of women in the "GTA" series had been criticized by gamers and critics. It was thought that even though "GTA 5" is an open-world masterpiece with lots of things for gamers to do, it needed a female character to make it well-rounded. It is said to be too male-oriented in terms of game-play.

Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser revealed that the idea of a female protagonist was being considered. Houser told The Guardian way back in 2013 that, "In the future, could we do a game with a lead female character? Of course! We just haven't found the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things we always think about."

It was also rumoured that Eva Mendes would be this female character in "GTA 6."

Rumours about what cities "GTA 6" would feature led to all sorts of speculation. Many gamers of the "GTA" series wanted the whole of USA in "GTA 6." Then there were rumours that "GTA 6" would return to the 80s Vice City.

Rockstar has not confirmed or denied any of these rumours and it still has to officially mention a time-frame for the development of "GTA 6."

With "GTA 5" DLCs plus "GTA Online" updates releasing at regular intervals, Rockstar seems to be fine tuning these two. Fans hope Rockstar at least makes an official announcement that they will start on the development of "GTA 6" soon.

Till then, fans will have just have to wait for the latest news about "GTA 6."
