These foods are very hard to resist and may cause some harmful effects to your children.

If you are a parent, you know how difficult it is to maintain balance in a lot of life's aspects – from career to time for your children up to the simplest things like planning your menu all throughout the week. To save time on these, you opt to grab what is easy, accessible and known.

Children also have the tendency to be very picky. They reject food that are way too blunt for their taste. Unfortunately, they always go for the unhealthy ones. Thus, parents fall into the trap of allowing and letting their children get what they want.

The key there is to choose the kinds of food you buy in the market before your children can get a hold of it. If you still have enough time to overhaul the contents of your kitchen food counter, you have to slash these foods from your list:

1. Chocolate Milk

This drink is often spotted inside any child's lunchbox. Although we have been accustomed to this idea, the drink is not a healthy choice for your child. Some of these chocolate milk bottles have a great load of sugar in it. According to Mamavation, a 480mL bottle of one of the most famous chocolate milk drink contains 48 grams of sugar.

Even when the child only consumes half of the bottle's content, it still does not meet the maximum amount of sugar allowed for a child's daily diet. Your kid is only allowed to take three teaspoons (12 grams) of sugar per day.

 2. Soda

Soda is worse than chocolate milk. It is not only loaded with a whole lot of sugar, it also contains a lot of harmful ingredients such as artificial color and flavoring.

Some schools have this product available in their cafeterias that children may get a hold of this anytime. One way to convince your children to not get soda from the counters is to remind them about the harmful things sugar is capable of doing to everyone's body.

 3. Frozen Meals

Beware. These meals are quite tricky. A parent who only seeks the happiness of their children can be easily tempted to grab those attractive frozen food boxes. These boxes with colorful and happy characters will lure consumers to pick them up, especially when they sit beside classically-packaged frozen food.

A parent should learn how to turn these boxes around before throwing them into the grocery basket and see what's really within these very appealing boxes. Take a hint and remember the 7 harmful food additives that you should note while scanning through supermarket products.

4. Cereals

Whose house haven't tried to stack up a wide range of these? Just like the frozen meals, cereal boxes are very deceiving. It is actually loaded with a lot of sugar and trans fat known as the root causes of serious health problems.

 5. Kiddie Happy Meals

We can argue about the ingredients the whole day. A single set of "happy meal" actually has a lot of things going on in it. It has 32 grams of sugar, 18 grams of fat, 790 mg of sodium, 0.5 gram of trans fat and a whopping 540 calories. The set also has non-organic ingredients that contains harmful pesticides and GMOs. Mamavation states that french fries alone has cancer-causing content.

Here are other foods to avoid:

Are there Better Alternatives?

Most supermarkets already cater organic products that are pressed in less-attractive packages. It may cost you more but it sure has less sugar and no harmful additives in it.

We can't stop famous brands from selling their deceiving products. However, we always have a choice to choose the right food for our children.
