HTC U11 Plus Specs, Release Date Rumor: Device Set for Launch Later This Year? Features Detailed
HTC is looking to come out with an enhanced version of its U11 flagship by the end of the year, according to a brand-new report.
Digitimes claims that the company is planning to unveil the purported HTC U11 Plus during the fourth quarter of this year as part of its continued efforts to compete in the smartphone market even after Google acquired its mobile division.
The HTC U11 Plus will reportedly sport a larger 5.99-inch quad high-definition (HD) display that is expected to be bezel-less with a tall 18:9 aspect ratio, but it will be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor as the standard version.
However, this improved iteration is apparently passing on a dual camera setup. HTC is reportedly keeping the single 12 MP rear camera, which was one of the highlights of the U11.
The imaging department of the flagship was acclaimed by critics and users alike and it appears that the company is content with that and does not feel the need to add a second camera on the HTC U11 Plus despite the growing trend.
More on the camera, the front of the new version will be an 8 MP shooter, which is down from the original's 16 MP sensor. It will also come with 64 to 128 GB storage space.
An earlier leak suggested 4 to 6 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and the Edge Sense, a brand-new standout feature introduced in the original HTC U11 that allows users to squeeze its sides to activate certain functions.
The HTC U11 Plus is also expected to come with IP68 certification, which means it can resist dust and survive a 30-minute dip in shallow water. Users will be able to charge it up to full battery under an hour thanks to its QuickCharge 3.0 support.
After the release of the HTC U11 Plus, it is unclear what fans of HTC can expect from the company next now that Google has taken over 2,000 of its engineers.
