iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak: Jailbreaking Causing More Battery Problems?

Apple users have been looking out for an authentic untethered jailbreak since the company launched its new operating system, the iOS 5.

An untethered jailbreak would allow users to download and operate various new applications. Users of Apple devices, including the iPhone series, the iPad 1 and 2, as well as the iPod Touch have been anticipating the launch of an iOS 5 jailbreak. A tethered version has previously been released and has worked successfully on all devices except the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, as they run on the new separate more-powerful A5 processor.

However, an untethered version is still in the works and has not been launched yet.

The Dev-team is currently working on that release, but recent developments have now brought about a dilemma: Apple recently released the iOS 5.0.1 beta version for developers to fix a bug in the original iOS 5 that has caused a battery draining problem.

It is believed that many users will be weary to jailbreak the new update as this could cause the battery problems to re-emerge.

The Dev-team has said that it will soon release an untethered jailbreak for both the original iOS 5 and the iOS 5 5.0.1. In a tweet Wednesday the Dev-team said: “I didn't tell 5.0.1 would never be jbken but it will certainly take more time."

The tweet added: "Note about 5.0.1 : don't update if you plan on jbking : the bug Charlie MILLER found can simplify exploits dramatically and will be closed.”

It is thought that following the release of the updated iOS 5.0.1, Apple users may have to choose between jailbreaking or battery life.
