Justin Bieber Defends Friendship With Lil Twist

Justin Bieber, 19, is defending his friendship with 20-year-old rapper Lil Twist after the media has speculated about the latter getting the Canadian crooner into trouble.

Lil Twist, a Young Money rapper who was born Christopher Moore, has been making headlines in mainstream media reports for his friendship with Bieber. "Lil Twist Has Pot-Fueled Party at Justin Bieber's House," a Billboard headline read recently.

"Lil Twist Wrecks Justin Bieber's Fisker -- Then Flees," TMZ reported earlier this month. However, Bieber recently defended his best friend in a Teen Vogue article.

"When I first got signed, I moved to Atlanta and met Twist," Bieber told Teen Vogue. "The funny thing is, I was nobody when we were hanging out. Twist knows me for me."

Still, the 19-year-old pop star said he does not have a large amount of friends.

"Literally, my phone never rings," Bieber told Teen Vogue. "I only have, like, four people that I keep in contact with. I don't need a bunch of close friends to make me happy."

Last year, Bieber told Oprah Winfrey about his limited amount of close friends.

"I really don't have a lot of friends.I have three close friends," Bieber told Winfrey on "Oprah's Next Chapter" last November. "You just feel sometimes that you need someone to be there with you. I get days where I'm just down and gloomy."

Bieber has been the subject of numerous media headlines recently that have alleged violent behavior, issues with substance abuse and a mental breakdown lately. Although the Canadian crooner has denied many of the media reports about him, fellow singer Chris Brown, 23, gave some insight about how the people around him can help the 19-year-old.

"It's being young, having limitless amount of income to do whatever you feel and at the same time there's nobody to say 'hey bruh you're looking bad right now,'" Brown said during a recent interview on New York City's Power 105.1 radio station. "You're doing this or you're doing that."
