Kanye West Compares Himself to Jay Z, Michael Jackson: 'I've Got to A Point That Michael Jackson Did Not'

Kanye West recently compared himself to pop star and sensation Michael Jackson as well as fellow rapper Jay Z. The new father and rap star spoke with gratitude about Jackson, but also pointed out that he believes he has reached a point beyond what Jackson ever reached. He does, however, admit that Jay Z has accomplished more than him.

West recently sat down for an interview with Zane Lowe of BBC Radio 1. It was in this interview that West compared himself to Jackson.

"I would not be Kanye West if it wasn't for Michael Jackson," he said, giving tribute to the artist that came before him.

However, the rapper did add a comment that seems to imply he thinks he has reached a greater height than Jackson.

"I was able to ascend to massive heights. And I've got to a point that Michael Jackson did not break down. I have reached the glass ceiling, as a creative person, as a celebrity and I've been at it for 10 years," West said to Lowe.

West was not modest in his self-praise. He went on to say that his discuss his success and it's impacts in the social realm

"I look around and I say, 'Wait a minute,'" he continued. "'There's no one around here in that looks like me. And if they are, they're quiet as f---.' So that means, wait a second now, we're seriously in a civil rights movement."

Showing some humility, West did admit that fellow artist Jay Z is more accomplished than him, and that serves as a source of frustration for West.

"Jay Z is more realized than me," he said. "More of his dreams and aspirations have come true. You don't realize I am so frustrated. Like, I've got so much I want to give. ... And I've got a million people telling me why I can't do it."
