Kate Winslet News: Actress Claims She and Leonardo DiCaprio Never Fancied Each Other
While some people suspect that she and Leonardo DiCaprio may have developed feelings for each other while filming ''Titanic,'' Kate Winslet has reiterated in a recent interview that she and the actor have never gone beyond a platonic relationship.
There is no denying that DiCaprio and Winslet are two of the most successful onscreen pairs, thanks to the mega-blockbuster ''Titanic'' released in 1997. However, the Oscar-winning actress has once again stressed that, despite her onscreen chemistry with DiCaprio, they never really developed feelings for each other
"I think for Leo and I, it was seven months of very intense work. We were both really very young.Luckily, and this is the fortunate thing, we never fancied each other. I know that's really annoying to hear, sorry, but we really never did," Winslet said in her recent appearance on ITV's "Lorraine" talk show to promote her upcoming movie, "The Mountain Between Us."
While Winslet's reveal may have crushed the fantasies of her and DiCaprio's ardent followers, the actress believes that the non-existence of romantic feelings between them has actually done them good as they have maintained their good friendship sans the awkwardness.
"It did mean that we were just able to have this ...we were able to tease each other and we still do. It's really amazing," the actress said.
Despite not having fancied each other, there is no denying that DiCaprio and Winslet are, indeed, friendship goals. Just before Winslet won her Golden Globe and Oscar Best Actress statuettes for the movie "The Reader'' in 2009, she was seen holding hands with DiCaprio prior to the announcement of her name. On the other hand, when DiCaprio bagged his first ever Oscar Best Actor trophy for the movie ''The Revenant'' last year, Winslet, who was the actor's date at the awarding ceremony, was obviously teary-eyed when DiCaprio's name was called as the winner.
Just like their Jack and Rose roles in ''Titanic," DiCaprio and Winslet may not really be destined to be together romantically. However, it can't be denied that destiny has gifted them with an awe-inspiring friendship.
