Katy Perry Sims Game Coming Soon
Pop superstar Katy Perry has signed a deal with Electric Arts (EA) making her a character in the virtual game The Sims.
"I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I'm a Sim," said Perry in the news release announcing the deal.
EA's announcement Tuesday revealed plans "to develop multiple games within The Sims franchise featuring special Katy Perry themed in-game content and virtual goods."
Perry's character will lend her "distinctive talents, style and personality" to the popular computer game, said EA.
The company's Executive of Music Steve Schnur said Perry has been a Sims fan for several years, reported CNN.
"No performer could better represent the humor and fun of The Sims brand," added Schnur.
The strategic life-simulated game gained popularity in 2000 where players carry out daily activities of one or more virtual Sims people who live in SimCity. According to EA, it is their most popular game of its kind.
Perry is a long time fan of the game, and In her hit song "Hot and Cold," she sings lyrics in Simlish- the language of the Sims.
Also in her news statement, Perry explained what she likes most about the game.
"I love how you're able to play out different stories through your Sims characters- giving them different careers and watching them succeed," said the singer.
Her Sims character will even perform on stage emulating her California Dreams Tour. "Even my cotton candy cider screens are in there," exclaimed Perry.
Both "The Sims 3 Showtime" which will see an expansion pack including the Perry Sim and "Katy Perry Collector's Edition" will be released in March 2012.
Of late, Perry has been keeping busy creating "accessories, clothing, hairstyles, furniture, and props" for the virtual people, in addition to appearing in ad campaigns for her Sims deal.
