LG Zero News: LG Brings Another Mid-Range Phone Into The Global Market

Korean device manufacturer LG has added yet another mid-range smartphone to the market. The new phone called LG Zero is LG's addition to an expanding range of options for smartphones that have decent specs and has the right price point. According to a report in Tech Times, this midranger has a full metal body, making it extra attractive to consumers who want a phone that looks good.

The device was officially announced last December 1, with LG indicating that the device will be rolled out to the global market soon. According to the report, Taiwan will be the first market where the device will be available. Other markets such as Latin America, Asia and Europe will soon follow, but LG was mum about the phone's exact release date for these areas. In the U.S., it was earlier reported that the LG Zero may be available via carrier AT&T. LG Zero was earlier released in the company's home market, South Korea, as LG Class. The phone has been renamed for its global launch.

LG Zero sports an all metal body which is made of solid aluminium, giving it a "premium look and feel" that a lot of consumers are looking for. According to LG's official description of the device: "This newest smartphone's smooth metal body is enhanced by the 'Arc Glass' design of the edges which create a slimmer profile."

Under the hood, the phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor paired with 1.5 GB of RAM. The processor's brand however was not specified. Its display is an IPS 5-inch HD display with 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution. LG boasts that the phone's display "offers crisper images and better outdoor visibility."

Internal storage is at 16 GB but is expandable via a microSD card slot. Camera-wise, the device has a 13 megapixel rear camera while its selfie camera is an 8 megapixel shooter. Despite it being a mid-range device, its camera specs are comparable to that of the flagship LG G4.

The phone will come with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed. Since this is a new phone, consumers will likely expect that LG will be bringing an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to the phone as well. Its measurements are 142 x 8 x 7.4 mm or 5.59 x 2.83 x 0.29 inches, with a weight of 147 grams or 5.19 ounces.

Connectivity options on the LG Zero are 4G/LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB. Color variants are silver and gold.

In South Korea, the phone was released in September with a price tag of $340. LG has not yet announced how much the phone will cost outside of its home market.
