Two teams currently outside the playoff picture battle at the Staples Center as the Los Angeles Lakers welcome the Washington Wizards in the National Basketball Association.

Detroit hold the eighth spot as of this writing and the Bulls are not far behind, however, a good run for the Wizards in the final stretch of the year paired with a collapse by Chicago and Detroit may see Washington slip up the rankings.
On the other hand, the Lakers already have no chance to make it to the playoffs after a poor year. It has been more of a farewell for Kobe Bryant than a challenge to return to their elite status in the league.
They are the last team in the Western Conference and are only slightly better than the Philadelphia 76ers for the worst record in the entire league.
However, in their head to head battle, the Lakers hold a win over Washington after a 108-104 victory earlier in the season.
In this game, Bryant put on a vintage performance at the Verizon Center as he scored 31 points to lead the Lakers in a road win.
He shot 10 of 24 in the game while making four three pointers to help the Lakers. Jordan Clarkson added 18 points for Los Angeles.
As for the Wizards, John Wall led the team with 34 points in a very efficient 11 of 19 shots from the field.
However, Bradley Beal was inconsistent throughout the night as he only had 11 points and shot 25% from beyond the arc in the loss.
