MacFarlane Won't Return to Hosting Oscars, Suggests Joaquin Phoenix

Seth MacFarlane announced that would not be reprising his hosting duties at the Academy Awards next year.

The "Family Guy" creator took to Twitter explaining that he "tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep."

McFarlane's admission comes as no surprise, as the multi talented actor received criticism over jokes used during his run as host of the Oscar's earlier this year.

While "Family Guy" is known to use sharp humor, many say that the TV series' creator crossed lines with "tasteless" jokes about female actresses as well as the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

Nevertheless, MacFarlane noted that the producers behind the Academy Awards are among the best in show business.

"[I] Recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business," the actor posted to Twitter following his refusal to return to hosting. "My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix."

MacFarlane's mention of Phoenix is likely a joke- as the "Walk the Line" actor is well known for avoiding the spotlight and for being eccentric.

Meanwhile, MacFarlane is working on his latest film, "A Million Ways to Die in the West." The comedy Western will see Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Neil Patrick Harris, Sarah Silverman and many more.

"Everybody's laughing all the time," Seyfriend revealed of filming the new movie while speaking to MTV News. "It's like nobody cares about the fact that they've been shooting a 14-hour day. Every line is hilarious."

The actress continued to promise fans that "A Million Ways to Die" would be a hit.

"I really love this movie," said Seyfried. "It's going to be amazing!"

Then, when it comes to MacFarlane's personal life, the actor is also busy. Although he recently split from "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke, MacFarlane has been linked to other romances recently.

However, the 39-year-old lamented dating in Hollywood in a past interview, citing paparazzi as a problem.

"It's a pain in the a-- because if you date, at a certain point you're in a relationship and at a certain point you're playing the field," the actor told Entertainment Tonight. "It becomes this thing of trying to find places where you can have some privacy, where you're not going to be accosted by people and suddenly linked to someone as if you're in a serious relationship."
