On its official website, Mega Millions announced that the jackpot amount has reached $390 million with a $265 million cash option. There was no bettor who matched the number combination for last Friday's draw which was 11, 14, 54, 57, 63 and the Mega Ball 11.

However, four players from Arizona, North Carolina, Texas and Illinois got all five white numbers right. The Texas winner even paid for the Megaplier add-on, which increased the winning to $5 million. In just two weeks, Mega Millions recorded its third $5 million winner.

Fourth Biggest Prize in Mega Millions History

Tuesday's top prize is said to be the fourth biggest in the history of Mega Millions and also the highest since a $414 jackpot was last won three months ago by two players from Maryland and Florida.

Mega Millions added in a release that the biggest prize it has given out is $656 million in 2012 which was divided to three winners. The next largest amount of $648 million followed a year after with two bettors splitting the prize.

How Can I Play?

U.S. residents who want to play to get a chance to win can buy a Mega Millions lottery ticket for $1 every play. The game's mechanics state that players should pick six numbers -- five from 1 to 75 and another number from 1 to 15. Players can also go for the Easy Pick option, which electronically generates a number combination.

A winner is determined if a player matches all six winning numbers. The jackpot prize of the lottery begins at $15 million and increases by $5 million every draw when there are no lucky winners.

Payment Options

The jackpot bettor can choose to get the money in 30 annual payments with each yearly amount bigger by 5 percent than the earlier release. Mega Millions usually invests the winnings to increase its value and adjust to the cost of living of the winners. A lump-sum payment is also available for a winning bettor wanting to get a one-time immediate payment.

The lottery game can be played in 44 states in the country including the U.S. Virgin Islands and Washington D.C. Draws are scheduled every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
