Michelle Obama Talks Style Regret

Michelle Obama, the first lady of the United States, recently opened up about her fashion faux pas.

Mrs. Obama, 49, admitted that during a family vacation the media made her feel as if she did the wrong thing by putting on a pair of shorts.

"I am kind of always happy with what I'm wearing, I think. Sometimes as First Lady, sometimes I forget I'm the First Lady and I'm running around in shorts," she revealed on BET's 106 & Park recently. "I know the first time we went on a family vacation, I had shorts on getting off of Air Force One and that created a huge stink because people were like, she's wearing shorts getting off of Air Force One. And I thought, 'What, we're on vacation!'"

Despite the criticism she has received, Mrs. Obama has appeared on two covers of Vogue magazine. Earlier this year, she graced Vogue to speak about her take on style.

"I always say that women should wear whatever makes them feel good about themselves," the first lady said. "That's what I always try to do."

However, the 36-year-old rap mogul Kanye West, insists that his future wife and reality television star Kim Kardashian deserves to be on a Vogue cover more than Mrs. Obama.

"No one is looking at what [Barack Obama] is wearing," West said on host Ryan Seacrest's radio show recently. "Michelle Obama cannot Instagram a [bikini] pic like what my girl Instagrammed the other day."

He went on to speak about his future wife's influence.

"There's no way Kim Kardashian shouldn't be on the cover of Vogue. She's like the most intriguing woman right now," West told Seacrest. "She's got Barbara Walters calling her like everyday. And collectively, we're the most influential with clothing."

Still, people's opinions about her style do not seem to be a concern for Mrs. Obama.

"I also believe that if you're comfortable in your clothes it's easy to connect with people and make them feel comfortable as well," she told Vogue earlier this year. "In every interaction that I have with people, I always want to show them my most authentic self."
