'Mission: Impossible 6' News: Cruise Spotted Filming in France

Paramount's intense action film franchise, "Mission: Impossible," is getting a sixth installment, and lead actor Tom Cruise was spotted in Paris, along with the rest of the cast and crew, to film scenes of the upcoming movie.

Cruise plays Ethan Hunt, a special agent who has been the protagonist since the first "Mission: Impossible" movie. In "Mission: Impossible 6," Rebecca Ferguson also reprises her role as Ilsa Faust, another undercover agent.

On set, Cruise was seen looking good in a navy blue coat with a pair of sunglasses, strolling towards a car with helicopters near its background. Aside from France, filming for "Mission: Impossible 6" will also take place in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Some of the new cast members includes Henry Cavill ("Superman"), Frederick Schmidt ("Supergirl") and Vanessa Kirby ("The Crown").

According to a report from In Touch Weekly (via The Daily Mail), Cruise personally chose Kirby to star in "Mission: Impossible 6." "He's blown away by her endless charm and energy," an insider said.

Schmidt was also recently confirmed to star in the upcoming installment, but details about his character has not yet been revealed.

Plot details, on the other hand, still remain under wraps. However, in a previous report by Cinema Blend, the sixth installment of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise will feature backstories about lead character, Ethan.

Christopher McQuarrie also returns to direct the new installment, while Cruise works as film producer alongside Don Granger, J.J. Abrams, plus Dana Goldberg and David Ellison from Skydance Production among others.

Cruise confirmed "Mission: Impossible 6" through an interview in "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on July 2015, and its release date is now slated for July 27, 2018 in the United States.

The first "Mission: Impossible" film was released back in 1996, and the franchise is now considered the 18th highest-grossing film series of all time, with over $2 billion in worldwide sales.
