Motorola Droid Ultra Specs Revealed, Release Date Announced
The Motorola Droid Ultra specs were revealed earlier this week after Verizon and the smartphone maker announced the addition of three new Droids to their lineup.
The new device will measure in at 7.18mm. Other specifications on the smartphone include a 5-inch 720p HD OLED display, 24 percent faster CPU, 100 percent faster GPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 10-megapixel rear camera with f2.4 lens with 1080p video recording, 4G LTE, and a 2130mAh battery.
The new device features Motorola's X8 Mobile Computing System, which is actually an eight-core unit that includes a dual-core processor, a quad-core GPU, a single-core contextual computing processor, and a single-core natural language processor.
The Droid Ultra is currently available for pre-order at www.droiddoes.com and will cost $199 with a new two-year contract. It will be available in three colors: black, white and red.
The device will ship on Aug. 20 and anyone who purchases the smartphone before Sept. 30 will get a free six-month Google Music All Access subscription.
Motorola and Verizon also announced the addition of the Droid Maxx and Droid Mini to its line-up.
The Droid Maxx is similar to the Droid Razr Maxx line as it possesses a more powerful battery than the rest of the handsets announced earlier this week. The smartphone will come with a 3,500mAh pack that is supposed to provide users with 48 hours of sustained usage. The rest of its specs are almost identical to the Droid Ultra.
The Droid Mini and Droid Maxx also feature the new eight-core X8 platform along with touchless gesture control support and an active display that lights up only a portion of the panel to display notifications.
The Droid Mini features a smaller screen and body and will cost $99. The Maxx will cost $299 on contract.
