While there hasn't been any announcement on the exact date Season 2 is due to premier, plot spoilers tag the next season as having a darker storyline compared to the previous episodes, the show's creator, Sam Esmail and some of the cast have revealed during the New York ComicCon last month.

With Season 1 of "Mr. Robot" having received universal critical acclaim with a 98 percent critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it was renewed for a second season even before the first season premiered in June this year, after an early premiere for the pilot episode was shown in May.

Season 1 of the show ended with a cliffhanger and Season 2 is expected to pick up where the plot thread left off, to address what happened after protagonist Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) enters his apartment where a mysterious visitor is waiting, while White Rose (BD Wong) learns from Phillip Price (Michael Cristofer) the latter is aware about "who is responsible" for the fsociety hack.

"Mr. Robot" follows the story of Alderson, a security engineer at Allsafe Cybersecurity who suffers from clinical depression and social anxiety, as well as paranoia and delusions. Connecting with people by hacking them, he becomes a cyber-vigilante and is recruited by a mysterious anarchist known as "Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) into the fsociety, an underground hacker group, where he becomes a "hacktivist."
