Nene Leakes and Kim Zolciak Have Different Views of Friendship

Nene Leakes and Kim Zolciak have different views about their rekindled friendship.

As stars of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" both Leakes, 45, and Zolciak, 34, have had a well-documented friendship on the reality television show. Although Leakes recently told In Touch Weekly that she invited Zolciak to her upcoming wedding, the former also made it clear that she was not quick to label the pair as friends just yet.

"What Kim and I did was let the past be the past and agree to move forward," Leakes told Extra recently. "I just think the word 'friend' is a very strong word."

However, Zolciak seemed to view her friendship with Leakes a bit differently.

"I do talk to NeNe, which is I know surprising to a lot of people. But we've had a long chat and we're in a really good place," Zolciak told "Extra" recently. "She matters more to me I think than anyone [on the show] because we were friends before 'Real Housewives of Atlanta.'"

Despite Leakes' most recent nonchalant approach to her rekindled relationship with Zolciak, the pair recently exchanged friendly messages on Twitter.

"Just had the best chat with @Kimzolciak," Leakes tweeted before speaking to Extra.

Zolciak followed suit on the social media networking website.

"My heart is at such peace @neneleakes best chat ever," Zolciak tweeted recently. "See u soon! #onwardandupward."

While Zolciak left "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" in the middle of the most recent fifth season, her relationship with Leakes has made headlines at the close of the show's season. Last month Zolciak opened up about her plans to attend Leakes' wedding.

"I have always been and I continue to be happy for NeNe, and I look forward to being invited to the wedding," Zolciak told In Touch last month. "NeNe and I started this journey together and although we have had our ups and downs, I am excited to get our friendship back on track. We were friends long before RHOA, and we will be friends long after RHOA if it's up to me."
