NetherRealm Teases New 'Mortal Kombat X' DLC

NetherRealm Studios has announced a new DLC for "Mortal Kombat X," releasing a teaser showing silhouettes of the new fighters.

Nearly half a year after NetherRealm Studios released a slew of new characters in downloadable bonuses, the Illinois-based video game developer has posted confirmation it is working on a new DLC, and has launched a teaser image of new character silhouettes.

As part of its hint on the upcoming characters, its creative director, Ed Boon took to Twitter with a series of posts, including one that said, "Tomorrow?"

The teaser image incited a flurry of guesses among "Mortal Kombat" fans, with speculations the new characters would include Snake Eyes, The Pit, Storm Shadow, Heihachi, and Nightwolf. Boon's Twitter followers also queried for a trailer, to which Boon answered it will be released eventually.

Apart from the introduction of four new playable fighters, the upcoming expansion pack will include skins and a new environment. There have also been suggestions there may be future DLC packs to follow.

The new DLC announcement came on the heels of a cancellation incident involving "Mortal Kombat X" PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, after Warner Bros. released information the game failed to "meet the quality standards" for the consoles.

Earlier on, players were treated to a series of downloadable content, which brought in several guest characters, including "Friday the 13th's" Jason Voorhees, followed a week later by the "Predator," Tremor from "Mortal Kombat: Special Forces," and "Mortal Kombat 4's" Tanya.

Released in April 2015 to positive reviews from gaming websites, "Mortal Kombat X" was published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment as the tenth main installment to its "Mortal Kombat" series.

The fighting game features a number of prominent players who use a variety of attack styles, special movies, and bloody Fatalities to defeat their opponents.
