New Year's Rockin' Eve 2016 takes place tonight and millions are set to tune in to Dick Clark's famous show, which is now hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy. The event will be shown live on TV on the ABC network or online through free live stream via the link below.

This year's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2016 will feature a total of 21 performances in total, and as usual some of the biggest names in the music industry are set to help revelers see the New Year in.

Those performing include Luke Bryan, Wiz Khalifa, Carrie Underwood and Demi Lovato among others.

Swift of course headlined the New Year's 2015 show at Times Square last year, and she'll be helping the festivities again this year. She is set to unveil her new video for single "Out of the Woods" for the broadcast, which is taken from her latest album 1989.

The 1989 album was positively received by critics and fans alike. Sheffield of Rolling Stone described it as "deeply weird, feverishly emotional, wildly enthusiastic, 1989 sounds exactly like Taylor Swift, even when it sounds like nothing she's ever tried before."

At the Grammy Awards in 2015, single "Shake It Off" was nominated for three awards including Record of the Year and Song of the Year while, at the 2015 Brit Awards, Swift won the International Female Solo Artist category.

This year's New York Times Square ball drop event will feature a gigantic ball with an amazing array of 2,688 pieces of crystal triangles, which should ensure a light spectacle for millions at the event and watching live on TV around the world.

Organizers of this year's event have said that they want theme of this year's event portray the "wonderment, fantasy and optimism that nourishes the seeds of knowledge and achievement."

Each of the 2,688 crystal triangles are 3/8 inch thick, 4.75 inch to 5.75 inch in length and each weighs 6.8 ounces.
