A matchup between two New York teams is always an interesting one, with the Giants facing the Jets in a crucial game on Sunday; and it looks like whenever these teams play, there always seems to be some intrigue along the way.
The Jets are the epitome of an average NFL team this season. Todd Bowles' team has the ability to beat any bad team any given day, but they're also an easy prey for the league's elite. So far, they've lost to the Eagles, Patriots, and the Texans — teams that belong to the upper echelons. To be fair, though, they also beat a good team like the Colts this year, but that's it. All the others are teams that everyone expects to lose, including the Jaguars and Browns.
The Giants, on the other hand, are an average team, too, sporting a record that's slightly below .500, at 5-6, though it's interesting that they're actually second in the NFC East. The team's primary issue this season is inconsistency. They've shown they can play and beat very good teams, but also showed how they can get really bad. For them to win their division, they'll have to pull through upset victories against three teams with winning records, including the Panthers and Vikings. So if they lose this one against the Jets, it is likely that they've lost their best chance to grab a spot in the postseason.
Both these teams are entering Sunday's game with some kind of determination and urgency to be able to grab a win and obtain a better standing before the end of the regular season. It may be true that they haven't enjoyed a dominant and successful season so far, there's no denying that these New York franchises are more than capable of pushing it harder.
