Nexus 5X Vs. Moto X Pure Edition: Which Is The Best Android Smartphone?
Among the two smartphones, Google's Nexus 5X is the newer device, having been released recently with its bigger sibling, the Nexus 6P. Motorola's Moto X Pure Edition was unveiled in July 2015 and is the successor of the Moto X 2014. As both phones have comparable price tags – LG's Nexus 5X is $379 while the Moto X Pure Edition is $399 – it is important for consumers to look at the devices' specs in order to determine which phone is best for their smartphone needs, according to a report in Tech Times.
Under the hood, both phones have the same chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. The 5X only has 2 GB of RAM, while the Moto X Pure Edition has an extra 1 GB, with a total of 3 GB of RAM. According to a report in Android Authority, the difference in RAM does not spell that big a difference in performance. Both phones also run on stock Android OS, particularly Android Lollipop.
When it comes to the phones' displays, the Moto X has the larger 5.7 inch screen, while the Nexus 5X only has a 5.2 inch screen. The Moto X also offers better resolution than the 5X. The Moto X has a 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution compared to the Nexus 5X's 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Screen-to-body ratio is also better on the Moto X at 75 percent, while the Nexus 5X is only 70 percent.
In the camera department, the Nexus 5X only has 12 megapixel main camera, while the Moto X Pure Edition camera is a bigger 21 megapixel shooter with dual-LED flash.
The Moto X Pure Edition is equipped with a bigger 3,000 mAh battery, compared to the 2,700 mAh battery of the Nexus 5X. Battery performance however is also dependent on the phones' display and the power it consumes.
For smartphone users who are looking for the best option for internal storage, the Moto X Pure offers the better option with 16 GB of internal storage which is expandable via a microSD card slot. The 5X also offers 16 GB of internal storage, but is not equipped with a microSD card slot.
Between the two phones, the Nexus 5X is the better performer when it comes to charging and data-transfer because it is equipped with the newer USB Type-C port. The Moto X Pure only has the standard micro-USB standard.
