Nick Carter Performs in NYC 2 Days After Sister's Death

Singer Nick Carter performed at the Irving Plaza in New York City on Thursday night, just two days after his sister had died.

The former Backstreet Boy, 32, lost his sister Leslie Carter, 25, from a prescription drug overdose in upstate New York on Tuesday.

According to E! News, Carter gave an "energetic" performance with cover songs like Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" and U2's "With or Without You," as well as songs from his solo album before a crowd of 700 "estrogen-laden" fans.

Carter got a little deeper further into the performance when he sung the ballad "Falling Down," taking up his guitar and telling the audience, "I never thought I'd have to, but I'd like to dedicate this song to my sister." Carter performed the song holding back tears.

Leslie, an aspiring singer, had an extensive history of mental illness and was taking medication for depression, a police summary stated on Wednesday.

Leslie's stepmother, Ginger Carter, called the police on Tuesday from their home in Mayville, New York, saying her stepdaughter was "asleep on her bed and not breathing."

Leslie's father attempted to revive her with CPR before paramedics rushed her to Westfield Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The prescription drugs Alprazolam, Cyclobensaprine and Olanzapine, used to treat anxiety, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, were found near Leslie's body, authorities reported.

Officials are conducting a full investigation into Leslie's death, with a complete autopsy on the way, Us Weekly reported.

"I am with my family spending much-needed time together as we deal with this private matter," Leslie's brother, singer Aaron Carter said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Nobody would have begrudged him if he decided to cancel his show, but he's a trooper and we love him for that," Galina Matlin, a 28-year-old fan told E! News of Nick's performance.

Leslie is survived by her husband Mike, 10-month old daughter Alyssa and four siblings.
