Oculus Rift News: VR Headset To Launch With 30 Games

With virtual reality technology becoming the rage these days, technology consumers especially gamers are very excited about the launch and release of the first virtual reality headsets in the market. Among the three competing brands, the one closest to a launch is the Oculus Rift, designed and manufactured by an independent company, Oculus VR. The Oculus Rift is set for a March 28 release. According to a report in Wired UK, the upcoming VR headset will also be released with an "impressive software library" to boot.

Since VR is a new technology, game development around it is also new. With any new technology, its successful adoption will hinge on what is available to be used with the new technology. In gaming, the successful adoption of VR will be dependent on the number of games available for VR, as well as how good these games are in terms of providing the VR experience in gaming.

The Oculus Rift looks to be on the right track as the VR headset will be accompanied by a selection of 30 games that have been developed for the virtual reality technology. A Polygon report cited that although the games were earlier revealed at the GDC 2016, the announcement now includes prices as well as the game's comfort rating in terms of VR experience. Included in the list of games is the space survival simulation game, "Adr1ft" which is rated as "intense" and has a price tag of $19.99, fantasy game "Chronos," which is rated as "comfortable" and costs $49.99, and another "intense" shooter game, "EVE Valkyrie: Founders Pack" which costs $59.99, the highest among the lot.

The Oculus Rift headset will be released on March 28, and is also currently accepting pre-orders for $599.99 per unit.
