'Once Upon A Time' News: Belle and Gaston Reunited

A good douse of girl power hit the screens Sunday when Belle (Emilie de Ravin) makes a tough stand on "Once Upon a Time," in the episode "Her Handsome Hero." The same episode also sees her reunited with Gaston (Wes Brown) in the underworld, as the audience is dealt an origins tale of how these two characters met.

Belle's father arranged a meeting between Belle and Gaston, and Belle falls for his charm as they take a romantic stroll and later help each other resolve the ogre situation they met while in the woods. Gaston wanted to bring the ogre back to her father but Belle refuses to let him. Although she later agrees to accept Gaston's proposal, she does so as a sacrifice.

In the last episode of "Once Upon a Time," Belle's strength of character shines through as she puts her foot down and defends an ogre she believes is innocent. And it is not just any one opponent but a whole army of men she chooses to go against.

In the underworld, she also refused to go along with Rumple's (Robert Carlyle) intention to dump Gaston in to the River of Lost Souls. And that was something big considering that doing so would have saved her baby from their contract with the Lord of the Underworld. And she even asks Rumple to turn his Dark Magic into Light Magic, believing he could use his power to do good, although he thinks otherwise.

Finally, though, she ends up being the reason Gaston falls into the river, albeit accidentally, when Belle thought Rumple was in danger.

In the end, she is unable to get out of their contract with Hades. It will take more than her determination to defeat the Lord of the Underworld, even though she's tough enough to go head to head with him.

"Once Upon a Time airs Sundays on ABC at 8 p.m.
