'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 Episode 4 Spoilers and Recap: Arthur's True Motives Will Be Revealed

In the forthcoming episode of "Once Upon a Time" entitled "The Broken Kingdom," the official synopsis reads, "It's the one possession that can defeat the darkness — but it stands between them and saving their daughter."

In the promo for the episode, it seems that Snow and Charming will begin to fight about the best way to save their daughter. Snow will also discover Arthur's true nature and what he wants with the dagger. She will warn Charming about trusting the king of Camelot. The promo also teases an unlikely team up that includes Hook, Robin, and Regina.

In the previous episode, it began with the dwarves as they mined in the caves. Emma stole an axe from one of the dwarves. In Camelot, the others were still trying to figure out a way to free Merlin from the tree. Emma wanted to use her dark magic, but Regina told her that it was not worth it. Arthur showed up and he asked for their progress.

Six weeks later, Regina showed the others a book where there is a huge question mark. Happy, one of the dwarves, showed up and he told David that Emma stole his axe. David wondered what Emma needed an axe for.

Emma needed the axe in order to try and get the sword from the stone. Gold told her that the axe would not help. She needed a hero to pull the sword out.

Meanwhile, David had promised to help Arthur look for all the magical objects in Camelot that have been lost. Hook noticed that Emma was hiding something. He demanded to know, but Emma needed his trust instead.

In the meantime, David revealed to Arthur that his daughter was the dark one. In the end, Emma became the dark one and she used to her power to turn Gold into a brand new hero with a clean slate.
