'Orange Is the New Black' Season 5 Release Date News: First Episode to Conclude Daya's Cliffhanger Immediately?

The upcoming season of "Orange Is the New Black" ("OITNB") is expected to answer a lot of questions that the previous installment left. Rumor has it that season 5 will pick right where fans were left hanging in season 4.

As seen in the finale of "OITNB" season 4, Daya (Dascha Polanco) took CO Humphrey's (Michael Torpey) gun. The best part of it is, Daya pointed the gun at the most-hated CO of Litchfield. The other inmates then taunted Daya to pull the trigger.

According to Den of Geek, it is likely that "Orange Is the New Black" season 5 will kick off with the cliffhanger that left fans wondering if Daya pulled the trigger on Humphrey or not. Since Netflix has not yet released the official synopsis for the upcoming installment, it cannot be confirmed if this is the point where the new season will start with.

Another cliffhanger that has had fans excited with the upcoming season is the story of Lori Petty's Lolly Whitehill. While the actress has said last year that she is looking forward to returning to the series, the streaming giant has not confirmed anything regarding the full cast list yet.

Lolly has been sent to the Psych Ward. The sad part is, Mr. Healy (Michael Harney) had to see Lolly enter the most dreaded ward in Litchfield. If Lolly appears in "Orange Is the New Black" season 5, the show is expected to shine a light on mental health awareness.

Meanwhile, Laverne Cox recently dished a few details on what fans should expect of "OITNB" season 5. Speaking with PEOPLE, the actress said fans will love the story of the upcoming installment. She also dropped a big revelation about the plot.

"Next season happens in three days, all 13 episodes happen in a three-day period. So we are jamming a lot in. A lot happens in that period of three days," Cox revealed. It is unclear how this will be depicted but fans are still excited.

"Orange Is the New Black" season 5 is slated to premiere June 9 on Netflix.
