It is best to install the recent CM nightly before "flashing" the release since it contains updates that can prevent damages and broken sensors. Users may check on the process here.

Before proceeding to Custom ROM installation, the device owner must make sure that the OnePus One is rooted. The process also needs the gadget's memory to be cleared, therefore, back up files by using Clockwork Mod Recovery/TWRP in the smartphone.

Install USB drivers in the PC and ensure that the battery life is at least 80 percent. If the installation is interrupted due to low battery, the device may be temporarily bricked.

The process in installing Custom ROM is highly technical and it will require someone who has background with rooting or manual software installation for Android gadgets. The users should do the process with caution since there is a risk that the OnePlus One may get bricked or damaged. The results depend on the ability of the user and not solely based on the guide.

First step is to download Paranoid Android 5.0 Lollipop Alpha 1 Custom ROM and Google Apps into the PC. Connect the OnePlus One device using a USB cord into the PC. Before connecting, check if there is a USB driver software and download here if it is not yet available.

Transfer the Android 5.0 Lollipop Custom ROM zip file and Google Apps .zip file in the device's SD card memory. The files must be pasted in the SD card root and not in any other folder. Make sure that the device has been rooted and ClockworkMod Recovery/TWRP tool has been installed.

Next step is to turn off the gadget and disconnect from the PC. The user must perform the Recovery Mode sortie by holding down the Volume (down) and Power buttons.

During the RECOVERY mode, choose wipe data/factory reset to clear the memory of the OnePlus One. The Volume and Power buttons are the keys to be used while in this mode.

It is time to clear the cache memory by clicking wipe cache partition. Return to ClockworkMod recovery and click advanced and then wipe dalvik cache. Go back to main recovery screen and then click install zip from SD card.

After that, click choose zip from sdcard and proceed to Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM.zip file and go on with the installation process. Do the same process for installing Google Apps.

When the installation is done, proceed to +++++Go Back+++++ and choose reboot system now in the recovery menu to restart the OnePlus One.

The booting process will take a few minutes. To confirm the installation of Paranoid Android 5.0 Lollipop Alpha 1 Custom Rom in the OnePlus One, check Settings and click About Phone.
