Paula Deen on Dancing with the Stars? Rumors Swirl After Chef is Approached by Show's Producers

Celebrity chef Paula Deen has reportedly been approached by the producers of "Dancing With the Stars" to compete in the upcoming season of the wildly popular dance contest.

The show's producers reportedly contacted Deen to take part in the upcoming 17th season of DWTS this fall, according to VH1's The Gossip Table.

This is the most recent development since it was revealed that Deen had previously used racial epithets that led to her contract not being renewed with the Food Network as well as a host of other sponsors dropping the so-called Queen of Southern cooking.

It was also the first news about Deen since she appeared on NBC's Today show last week to apologize and also insist that she is not a racist.

"I tell you and everyone out there what I believe and how I live my life. I believe that every creature on this earth, every one of God's creatures, was created equal no matter who you choose to go to bed at night with. No matter what church you go to pray," said Deen whose views on racial equality have come under harsh scrutiny after she was fired from the Food Network last week for admitting to using racist remarks in the past.

"I believe that everyone should be treated equal and that's the way I was raised and that's the way I live my life," said Deen.

Deen told the "Today" host that she cancelled an interview with him last week because she was shocked and overwhelmed by the accusations that she is a racist and she was still in disbelief because that's not how she was raised.

When Lauer asked her bluntly if she was a racist, Deen replied, "no."

It is not known if Deen will participate on the show, but in 2010, she revealed to "Extra" that she had been approached to compete in the competitive contest, saying, "They did ask me and I said no. Fat girls don't look good sweating."
