'Pirates of the Caribbean' Mobile Game: Players Can Take on Pirate Role; Pre-Registration Now Open

Now that "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," the fifth and latest installment of the Disney live-action franchise, is already slated for a May release, a new mobile game based on the film was announced by Korean game developer, Joycity.

The game, titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War," is described as a strategy-based Massively Multiplayer Online game and will feature the most recognizable characters of the franchise such as Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swan and Captain Barbossa.

The premise of the game will also be based on the movie's storylines, and players will take the role of a pirate who can build ships, recruit and train men to fight for their interests.

Players can also engage in battles against one another, and they may also team up to defeat sea monsters.

Pre-registration for the game is now open for both Android and iOS users, but an exact release date is still to be announced.

Players who pre-register for the game will receive a total of 2,000 Gold items when they reach a certain required level.

"We're confident that this mobile game will align with the quality and high entertainment value that fans have come to expect from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise," Joycity Chief Operating Officer Hanseo Jo said in a statement.

Jo also assures gaming fans that the feeling of excitement they will get from the game will be the same as the exhilaration they feel when watching the movies themselves.

Joycity is known to have worked on several other mobile games such as "Game of Dice" and "Freestyle: Street Basketball."

The upcoming movie of the franchise, "Dead Men Tell No Tales," is already scheduled for a May 26 theatrical release and it will star Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom who will reprise their roles as Jack Sparrow and Will Turner, respectively.
