Still No Jackpot Winner But Two Millionaires

Powerball announced that there was no winner for the jackpot prize with the combination 20-27-36-41-58 (white Powerball numbers) and 7 (red Powerball number) with 2x Power Play over the weekend. No one also won the Match 5 Power Play but two bettors were guaranteed $1 million after they matched 5 white numbers.

These players purchased their Powerball tickets in Texas and Georgia. They, however, did not included Power Play, which could have doubled their winnings for the lottery. Aside from these two lucky bettors, there were also more than 700,000 winners for Saturday's draw with a minimum winnings of $4 each.

Game Mechanics

Powerball is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. In October last year, the lottery game announced a bigger jackpot prize with a change in game mechanics. It explained that five white balls are now taken from a batch of 69 balls while a red ball is drawn from 26 red balls.

A jackpot winner is declared if all these numbers match the bet of a player even in no particular order. The second-biggest winning ($1 million) can be bagged if a player gets all the numbers on the five balls drawn.

There is also the so-called Power Play feature which allows players to increase non-jackpot prizes by as much as five times the original amount. The add-on can be purchased for $1, this is separate from the $2 payment for each ticket of Powerball. In a rare offering last October, Powerball even added a 10x multiplier which gave players the chance to win $150 million.

In case of a jackpot win, Powerball said that the lucky bettor could opt to receive an initial payment with the remaining amount to be paid once every year in a span of 29 years. There is also the cash option where a player would only need to pay the tax and get the entire jackpot prize amount in cash.

For the instalment basis, the lottery game said that they would invest the remaining payment to increase the annual amount given to the winner by 5 percent each year. This move was done to support the increase of the coast of living of the bettor.
