'Red Dead Redemption 2' Rumors: John Marston Present in the Game

While the latest trailer for "Red Dead Redemption 2" released last month confirmed that the game sequel will have a new hero, rumors claim that the hotly-anticipated game will still feature the protagonist of the first "Red Dead Redemption" game: John Marston.

There is no denying that many fans are awaiting excitedly awaiting the arrival of "Red Dead Redemption 2." While the game was initially slated for a fall 2017 release when it was announced last year, Rockstar Games disappointed many of the game's fans when it moved its release date to spring 2018.

While Rockstar Games has yet to officially announce the exact release date of "Red Dead Redemption 2," it released a trailer for the game last month that confirmed who the game's hero will be. While it was earlier speculated that the game may feature a younger version of John Marston, the trailer revealed that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will cast the spotlight on an outlaw named Arthur Morgan and other characters from the Van der Linde gang.

As "Red Dead Redemption 2" is now confirmed to be a prequel rather than a sequel, it is but understandable why it won't feature the hero of the first "Red Dead Redemption" game. However, it is speculated that "Red Dead Redemption 2" may not be devoid of the presence of John Marston at all. As the trailer also reveals that the game will, likewise, feature Dutch van der Linde, leader of the gang and one of John Marston's primary antagonists in "Red Redemption," it is suspected that John Marston may be a part of the game, too.

According to some fans, it is possible that John Marston's wife, Abigail, is the woman wielding a knife at the 1:03 mark of the trailer, which is possible as she was a member of Dutch's gang. Furthermore, eagle-eyed fans are suspecting that the character with an obscured face at the 1:14 mark of the trailer could be John Marston himself due to his familiar stride.

Will "Red Dead Redemption 2" feature John Marston after all despite the game having a new hero? If so, what is his relevance to the game?

Unfortunately, fans can only speculate for now until the game arrives early next year.
