Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' Trailer Out (VIDEO)

On Thursday the first full official trailer for Ridley Scott’s new movie “Prometheus” was released, much to the delight of many anticipating fans. For the past week 20th Century Fox has been providing glimpses of the official trailer by releasing trailers, for the trailer.

"Prometheus" brings with it the return to the sci-fi genre for Ridley Scott. Scott, who directed the first "Alien" 33 years ago, according to reports, originally intended “Prometheus” as an "Alien" prequel. The film takes place 30 years before the landmark film but is completely independent of it, providing a completely different storyline as well as a brand new cast of characters.

Not much is known about the film, which has been a closely guarded secret. When asked what the director thought of the new film, Scott said: “It’s all about everything. I come from the All About Everything School,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Scott promises that the new film will provide “some good thinking, some great narrative, good dialogue and therefore terrific actors.” The actors that were cast for the movie include; Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba and Swedish film star Noomi Rapace.

This has been a week filled with highly anticipated movie releases. First on Monday the trailer for Christopher Nolan’s final installment in his Batman trilogy, “The Dark Knight Rises,” premiered. Followed by Peter Jackson’s prequel to the “Lord of The Rings” trilogy, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” came out on Tuesday.

Scott released three 30-second pre-trailers this week before the official movie trailer came out. In each of the clips, Scott talks about returning "to the genre he redefined" as flashes of "Prometheus" and the making of the movie are shown.

"Prometheus" was written by Damon Lindelof, co-creator and executive producer of "Lost," and Jon Spaihts. It was produced by Brandywine Productions and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox.
