'Riverdale': Archie Escorts Cheryl; Mary Returns to Riverdale to Finalize Divorce From Fred

The CW teen drama "Riverdale" will air its ninth episode this April 6, and it is titled "Chapter Nine: La Grande Illusion."

Despite being hesitant at first, fans will get to see Archie (K.J. Apa) attending a Blossom family event in this episode as he escorts Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch), who asked him to be her date. Furthermore, the teaser clip for the upcoming episode hints that the two might be sharing a kiss.

Archie's real motive behind this, however, is to gather more information about Betty's (Lili Reinhart) sister, Polly (Tiera Skovbye). In addition, he was warned about the ulterior motives of the Blossom family, who are most likely out to take advantage of him.

Other than that, episode 9 will see Alice (Madchen Amik) plotting her revenge for the Blossom family with the help of her daughters. The trouble started when Polly decided to live with the Blossom family instead of her own.

Also, in the upcoming tenth episode, fans will finally get to see Archie's absent mom, Mary (to be played by newcomer, Molly Ringwald). Her return, however, does not mean that Archie's family will be brought back together because her mission is to finalize the divorce between her and Archie's dad, Fred (Luke Perry).

Archie, on the other hand, is certainly not happy with the decision, but his true feelings cannot be discerned either. As to whether or not Mary will find out about Fred and Hermione's (Marisol Nichols) relationship remains to be seen.

Episode 10 will be titled "The Lost Weekend," and it is set to air by April 13 on The CW.

"Riverdale" is based on the characters of the popular comic series "Archie," and its successful debut in January led the network to renew the show for season 2 just last month.

With a 0.5 rating and an average of 1.2 million viewers,  the series currently ranks as the second best non-superhero show from The CW, just right behind "Supernatural."
