According to Celebrity Net Worth, the former Christian singer is worth $55 million. After she rebranded herself as a pop-star Perry’s career took off. Forbes indicates that she has earned $44 million between 2010 and 2011 alone.

Perry and Brand, who met at the 2009 MTV Music Awards, were married October 23, 2010. California law states that married couples without a pre-nup must split 50/50.

Perry had just stated in an ABC interview with Barbara Walters that her marriage with Brand was going well. “I think that it’s lovely so far,” the singer said. However, on Friday, Brand announced the split was official.

“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends,” he said.
