Samsung Galaxy S2 Release Date: Galaxy S2 Skyrocket LTE Clocking Top Speeds

The recently released Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket clocks extreme network speeds.

The Skyrocket is AT&T’s first 4G LTE device and it has network speeds of over 65,000 kbps for downloads and over 13,000 kbps for uploads.

A member of AndroidForum tested the device in Texas and shared his results. Top speeds for a download clocked in at 65,628 kbps with an accompanying 9,755 kbps upload; however, top speeds for an upload clocked at 13,447 kbps with an accompanying 21,127 kbps download.

Technology website Phandroid noted that since AT&T's LTE is relatively new in most established areas, its speeds might be faster at this point while there are fewer users. However, members of AndroidForum admit the current speeds are impressive.

AT&T is constantly expanding its LTE availability. Besides Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio where AT&T's LTE capability has been established for a while, the network introduced the service to Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Athens and Boston on Nov. 6 with the release of the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket.

The specifications of the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket LTE include a 4.5-inch display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3.5, Gingerbread, 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD recording, 2-megapixel front facing shooter, 16 GB of built-in storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.

The Skyrocket LTE retails at $249.99 with a two-year contract and data plan.

AT&T's data plans include DataPlus that provides 200 megabytes of data for $15 per month and DataPro that provide 2 GB of data for $25 per month.
