Samsung Galaxy S2 vs. Motorola Droid Bionic: Which is the Best Android Phone on the Market?

Industry experts call the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Motorola Droid Bionic two of the best Android smartphones on the market.

According to GizmoCrunch, a technology website, the Galaxy S2 is the best Android phone on the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile networks. The website also claims the Droid Bionic is the best Android phone on the Verizon network.

The phones share similar specifications, including dual-core processors, 8-megapixel cameras with 1080p video recording, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and fast data speeds, such as HSPA+, WiMAX and LTE.

Both phones are expected to receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

The Galaxy S2, however, has seen more retail success than the Droid Bionic. It has been globally popular since its international release in April. By the time it became available on the Sprint network in mid-September, it was the carrier's best selling phone in less than two weeks.

The AT&T and T-Mobile models were released in October. Both models have also sold well on their respective carriers.

In September, it was announced that the Galaxy S2 sold over 10 million handsets worldwide, making it the fastest selling Samsung product in the world.

The Droid Bionic has not seen as much commercial success.

The Verizon Wireless network opted to not carry the Galaxy S2 to focus on marketing the Droid Bionic. However, since its early September release, the smartphone has yielded disappointing sales, despite rave reviews from developers.

Commentators have suggested that a price drop from $299 might help increase customer interest in the phone; similar to the HP TouchPad after its $99 fire sale that made it one of the best selling products on the market.

Droid Life, a technology website, claims that only third-party retailers, such as RadioShack, have seen low sales for the Droid Bionic.
