Samsung Galaxy S3 Explodes in a Microwave?

The Christian Post reported on a Samsung Galaxy S3 that supposedly exploded in Ireland around two weeks ago.

Pictures of this Galaxy S3 surfaced on the internet and the incident was reported to Samsung. The company promised to investigate the cause of the damage to the device, and now the company has accessed that it was burned by the owner microwaving the handset.

"The only way it is possible to produce damage similar to the damage recorded with the owner's damaged device was to place the devices or component parts within a domestic microwave," said Samsung in its report regarding the damage Galaxy S3.

The company reportedly hired Fire Investigations UK (FIUK) to assist them in getting to the bottom of the damage and the organization concluded that it was caused by an external heatsource, presumably a domestic microwave.

Samsung then contacted the owner who confessed to the company that his phone was dropped into water, and when he asked a friend to help him dry it, the person attempted to by using a microwave.

When the Galaxy S3 owner first posted up the pictures of his damaged handset, he reported that it was sitting in a car mount when it suddenly burst into white flames.

The phone was destroyed and it slightly burned a piece of plastic on the inside of my car," said the user in the post. "And they are refusing to give me a replacement; they had to send it off. Probably nothing I can do, but I'm really annoyed. That could have burned the side of my face or through my pocket and my leg, or set fire to my bed. It's very dangerous."

It seems like he was trying to sabotage Samsung's reputation by reporting something like this.
