In terms of size, Google Pixel XL is larger than Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Pixel XL is 155 mm in length, while Galaxy S7 is 151 mm. Pixel XL is 76 mm wide and has a thickness of 7.3 mm, while Galaxy S7 Edge has a width of 73 mm and is 7.7 mm thick. Google Pixel XL is also, expectedly, heavier than Galaxy S7 Edge (by 11 grams).

Google Pixel XL has an aluminum body and is glossy in some areas. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has an ergonomic design with rounded edges and an aluminum frame that is streamlined. Both Galaxy S7 Edge and Pixel XL comes in three different colors; for the Samsung smartphone, the colors available are black, silver and gold, while the Google smartphone comes in black, silver or blue.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a waterproof design which makes it safe to use under 1.5 meters of water for at most 30 minutes. Google Pixel XL, unfortunately, is not waterproof.

Google Pixel XL has a Snapdragon 821 quad core 2.15 GHz, while the Galaxy S7 Edge has a Snapdragon 820 quad core 2.15 GHz. Both devices have 4 GB RAM. Google Pixel XL also has two variants for internal storage, 32GB and 128GB, and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has three options: 32 6B, 64 GB and 128 GB.

Display

While Google Pixel XL is bigger than Samsung Galaxy S7, both smart phones have the same 5.5-inch screen size. Their resolutions are equal as well, at Quad HD resolution (2560 x 1440) and 534 ppi. Both phones also have AMOLED displays. Unlike Apple though, both phones don't have pressure-sensitive displays which help differentiate between a light press and a hard press.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a curved display which makes it look different from other top of the line smartphones.

Camera

Both Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Google Pixel XL has a 12 MP rear camera, but Pixel XL has a better front-facing camera at 8 MP. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a 5 MP front camera.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a larger camera aperture at f/1.7 while the Google Pixel XL has a f/2.0 aperture. Samsung has this feature to have better quality photos taken at low light. Unlike many high-end smart phones, though, both devices don't have dual lens cameras.

Optical image stabilization is available in the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge but not in the Google Pixel XL. This feature helps make images less blurry and makes videos smoother.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a bigger battery at 3,600 mAh, while that for Google Pixel XL is 3,450 mAh. This means that Galaxy S7 Edge has a better battery life than the Pixel XL.

Charging the Pixel XL is done through a USB-C port, while the Galaxy S7 Edge uses a microUSB charger. Both phones have fast charging capabilities. One feature that Galaxy S7 Edge has that Google Pixel XL doesn't is wireless charging.
