Samsung is releasing its Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic in the US today, October 2.

Less than two months after South Korean tech manufacturer Samsung unveiled is second generation smartwatch line in August during its pre-IFA press conference, it is now making the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic available in the US starting today,

Featuring a standard 1.2-inch touchscreen display with a 302ppi resolution, the Gear S2 smartwatch line is packing a 1GHz dual-core Exynos processor, supported by 512MB of RAM, as well as 4GB of internal storage.

Running Samsung's own in-house Tizen mobile operating system, the Gear S2 line is compatible with Android devices 4.4 or higher, and allows users to make calls via their wearables, even when not connected to a smartphone.

Sporting a rotating bezel to enable users to navigate through the smartwatch's interface, the bezel can be used to scroll through the Gear S2's menu and adjust its settings, apart from using the super AMOLED touchscreen display on the wearable.

Water-resistant and equipped with fitness tracking apps and sensors, the Gear S2 can monitor users' daily activities as well as their heart rates.

With its 250mAh battery giving users a maximum of three days power with regular use, the Gear S2 line is water resistant, and features its own mobile payment system, the Samsung Pay.

Users can expect the Gear S2 to come in dark gray and silver variants, and the Gear S2 classic in black, all models of which feature stainless steel casings and interchangeable straps.

Samsung's new wearables are available at Amazon, Macy's, Best Buy, and the Samsung Online Store at $299.99 for the Gear S2, and $349.99 for the Gear S2 Classic. Both smartwatches are also expected to be offered at Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T before the year ends.
