The motion picture actor Samuel L. Jackson is the top grossing actor of all time, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
In a career that began on television in 1972 with roles in series such as "Spencer for Hire" and movies like "Shaft," the actor has now appear in 100 movies and made hundreds of television appearances.
The total take for the former political activist is somewhere in the neighborhood of $7.4 billion, earning him a place in Guinness. Not even his mentor, Morgan Freeman, can beat these box office numbers.
In 1968, Jackson was one of the ushers in the Martin Luther King Jr. funeral, and became active in politics even after enrolling in theatre and drama at the all-black Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga.
Jackson was raised by his single mom who was a factory worker in Chattanooga, Tenn., and who later became a medical supplies buyer for a mental hospital.
