'Shades Of Blue' Releases On Jan. 14, 2016 With Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta

NBC will have American Idols' Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta headlining their new police and crime drama, "Shades of Blue," which will debut with a two-hour extravaganza on January 14, 2016.

At present, the show "The Players" is playing in this slot but NBC recently cut the episode order for it. It did not get its back nine order, plus the four episodes that were already planned also got a cancellation order. There is a high possiblity that "The Players" will not have a new season. It could come back with some new twists and turns but for now, the lid is sealed on the show.

NBC's much publicized Jennifer Lopez-starrer called "Shades of Blue" also has the award-winning Ray Liotta starring in it. The show focuses on a group of NYC police detectives who tend to make questionable decisions and their choices are not always correct.

Filming of the NBC police drama is in full swing as Dailymail reported some scenes that were shot with the two stars.

In one instance, the 46-year-old Lopez joins co-star Liotta to film a car crash they would use on the show. There were two versions of the scene being shot, which involved a car that has turned turtle onto it's roof. In one version, Lopez is caught inside the car and she becomes unconscious. She was dragged from under the car by Liotta and pulled to safety. In the other version, Lopez follows Liotta, running, as they distance themselves from the wreckage of the car.

The basic premise of "Shades of Blue" has Lopez playing the role of Harlee Santos who is a detective and a single mother. Harlee has shades of grey, meaning she is not the typical good cop. In this grey world of criminals and law enforcement agencies, Harlee bends the rules many times for her boss, Lt. Matt Wozniak, who is played by Liotta.

Unfortunately, Harlee gets entangled in a dubious case and is caught doing an illegal act by the FBI. The FBI forces Harlee to become an informant and spy on her colleagues in her own precinct with the condition that she should never be caught as the FBI would disown her if she were and there would be no proof that Harlee is only carrying out the FBI's orders.
