Solange Knowles 'Fed Up' With Jay Z, Was Defending Sister Beyonce? (VIDEO)
Video footage of Solange Knowles' assault on Jay Z has many fans speculating what exactly caused the drama and a new report suggests the singer was simply defending her famous sister Beyonce.
Fans were shocked Monday to see a newly released surveillance video of Solange, 27, violently attacking her brother-in-law Jay Z, 44. Last week the trio attended a Met Gala after party at the Boom Boom Room in New York's Standard Hotel and upon leaving, the hip-hop mogul was assaulted by Solange in an elevator.
It is unclear why exactly a visibly enraged Solange lunged at Jay Z, however, one unconfirmed report claims that their issues directly involve Beyonce, 32.
"Solange doesn't like the way Jay Z controls Beyonce. Beyonce would never speak up to him or defend herself, so Solange does it," a source told HollywoodLife.com.
"Solange is not afraid of him and is fed up with him calling all the shots in Beyonce's life," the insider explained.
On May 5 Beyonce and Jay Z appeared to be in good spirits while posing for photographs on the red carpet at the Met Gala. Solange also attended the annual fashion event and appeared to be enjoying herself.
An insider claims that the "Drunk In Love" duo had a "heated conversation" before the event which may have prompted Solange's elevator assault.
In the video, Solange and Jay Z are seen exchanging a few words and she lunges at him as a seemingly placid Beyonce watches on. Beyonce's longtime bodyguard Julius struggles to restrain Solange as she kicks and screams at her brother-in-law.
"Solange doesn't like that Jay Z is so controlling. That's why Beyonce didn't do anything, because Solange was coming to HER defense," the source said.
"Solange and Beyonce are extremely tight and Solange has always been very protective of her," the source went on. "Obviously Solange couldn't take it anymore and flipped out."
Solange eventually left the venue with Beyonce, while Jay Z opted to leave in a separate vehicle.
"Solange flipped out over something Jay had said, that she took the wrong way. She took it too hard or too far. Not sure what it was, but she greatly overreacted," another insider told Us magazine.
