'Star Wars: Battlefront II' Release Date: Game to Be Unveiled at Star Wars Celebration?

The highly anticipated Star Wars Celebration may have something for those who have been waiting to hear more about "Star Wars: Battlefront II."

In a post on the official website for one of the biggest conventions for the franchise happening next month, it was teased that guests "will get an opportunity to hear what's new on the Star Wars gaming front from Electronic Arts (EA)."

"Star Wars: Battlefront II" immediately comes to mind. Additionally, with the sequel set for release later this year, it will make sense for new information about the game to be revealed soon.

EA is also working with Respawn Entertainment for an entirely new "Star Wars" game and another project with Viscera Games so either of these two titles might be what the website was referring to.

However, with the planned release of "Star Wars: Battlefront II" much closer, it will be a surprise if Star Wars Celebration made no mention of it.

EA has massive plans for the sequel. EA CEO Andrew Wilson teased early this year via Eurogamer that the new "Star Wars: Battlefront" installment will be "even bigger."

He added that "Star Wars: Battlefront II" will take players "into more locations and allowing them to play with more heroes and characters across multiple Star Wars eras."

This is also what EA CFO Blake Jorgensen emphasized at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, in which he spoke about the company's new titles.

He reiterated via GameSpot that "Star Wars: Battlefront II" will indeed be "dramatically larger" than the 2015 game, adding that it will feature "a lot" of new characters.

"The Star Wars universe is just unbelievable to build games in because it's so vast," Jorgensen gushed about the franchise. He has already said in the past that the new movies could be featured in "Star Wars: Battlefront II." Some of the films include "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

"Star Wars: Battlefront II" is expected to hit the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC by the end of the year. Rumor has it a Nintendo Switch version is coming as well.

The Star Wars Celebration will take place on April 13 to 16 at the Orange County Convention Center.
