Tamar Braxton Says Motherhood Comments Taken Out of Context

Tamar Braxton, the 36-year-old singer-songwriter and co-host of "The Real," is defending herself against criticism about her mothering skills.

Braxton and her music executive husband Vince Herbert had their first child last month. However, the singer is clearing up statements about taking time to fall in love with her baby boy that she said were taken out of context.

"Immediately everything changes but immediately you don't fall in love, but I heard that you do but they lied," "Braxton told CocoaFab's blogger C Nikky last month. "Just like you fall in love with a little person, its just like that."

However, Braxton took time to further explain her statement.

"It was completely taken out of context, but isn't everything I say. You know, some people get and some people don't," Braxton recently told Sister 2 Sister Magazine. "What I've learned along the way is that you can't go to each person and explain yourself. And I refuse to do that."

The new mother insists that she has nothing but love for her new baby.

"You can think whatever you want to think. I love my son; I feel blessed to have him in my life and that's it," Braxton explained. "Of course you love your child, but no one talks about the initial shock, and that's what happened to me,"

Braxton elaborated on that shock even further.

"I was shocked. I was shocked for at least three days," she said in an S2S report. "Like, 'Oh, my God! I'm a mother, this is my baby. I can't believe this is the person that's been swimming inside of me for 9 months.'"

Braxton described how her child is an amazing product of her union with her husband.

"Vince and I have been together for 10 years and this is something that's come out of our 10-year relationship," she told S2S. "It's amazing."
