'The Flash' Season 2 Cast News, Update: Producers Looking for Actor to Play 'John Clark'
Another casting news update for the much-anticipated return of The CW's popular superhero TV drama series "The Flash" has arrived.
According to recent reports, a new hero is coming to Central City. The creators of the show are casting for a "season-long role of a classically handsome, square-jawed hero in his 30s to early 40s, a slightly cynical man 'with an edge,'" according to TV Line.
Who could this character be in the DC Universe? The casting call cites the part as "John Clark," who turns out to be an old-time letterer at DC Comics.
The scoop ends there but several websites were quick to speculate about this particular character. Den of Geek said that "this could be Jay Garrick." Garrick's helmet was blatantly shown towards the end of the show's season 1. However, the word "cynical" may not apply to the first speedster. The site said that this could be Max Mercury, which they described as a "world-weary" one.
ComicBook.com meanwhile shared their take on the story, saying that Clark has written for a number of DC heroes during his career and his name being mentioned could mean that his created characters like Geoforce, Hawkman, Doctor Fate, The Spectre and other members of the Justice Society that might arrive at Central City.
Earlier this week, reports said that Barry (Grant Gustin) will be getting a Felicity Smoak (from "Arrow") of his own. Wendy is described as a "spunky, fun and funny" female Central City Police personnel with a "scientific mind" which could certainly match the CCPD's brilliant forensic scientist.
"The Flash" Season 2 will premiere this fall on The CW.
