'The Good Place' Season 2 Spoilers: Ted Danson Talks About Jason Mantzoukas' Derek

Michael Schur's fantasy comedy series "The Good Place" kicked things up a notch this season, following the previous season's massive revelation. Ted Danson, who plays hell's architect, Michael, talked about twists are coming up.

Speaking to USA Today, Danson was asked about how it was like exploring Michael and his assistant Janet's (D'Arcy Carden) dynamic. He said, "One of them is an eternal demon, and one of them is this informational, Google-like system, and yet they're both slowly (becoming) humanized. That's a great first step to the rest of what happens this season."

The actor continued by praising where Schur is taking the show.

When asked about Janet's dim-witted beau, Derek (Jason Mantzoukas), Danson revealed that he is up to no good. He did not say much, as he refused to spoil what the character is up to. But he did tease that Derek is all for chaos and that he will only bring is a danger to the plan as if they are still torturing humans.

Danson admits that Mantzoukas delivers a performance which will never leave viewers short of laughs, but his character also makes up for some scary moments in "The Good Place."

"The Good Place" aired its fall finale "Derek" on Thursday, leaving viewers with just enough laughs to last until the show returns early in 2018. Mantzoukas' artificial character who is only starting to have a grasp of his individuality is unpredictable. And Michael worries that he will blow their cover.

In "Derek," Michael sends Jason and Tahani (Jameela Jamil) off to a brief vacation just until he solves this problem. He seeks Eleanor (Kristen Bell) and Chidi (William Jackson Harper) for a solution. But Eleanor was quite preoccupied, as she kept watching the videotape of her and Chidi's declaration of love.

The second half of "The Good Place" season 2 returns sometime next year.
