In the previous episode, it began with Alicia as she found Howard Lynn inside her office. He told her that he needed a lawyer since Cary and Diane were trying to box him out of the firm. She does not want to represent him at all, but she gave him some advice instead. Howard left and he bumped into Peter's mother Jackie on his way out.

Meanwhile, at Peter's office, Ruth held a campaign meeting and she purposely told Eli the wrong time. Ruth told Eli that it was his job to get Alicia and her mother Veronica to participate in a cooking show for the campaign.

Later on, Alicia headed to bond court where she met her client a man named Roland Halvin who was arrested for manufacturing GHB with intent to sell. Lucca was representing Roland's partner. The District Attorney offered a deal to both lawyers and Roland told Alicia that he made a synthetic drug that was not the same as the real thing.

Alicia did the cooking show with her mother but it did not go according to plan since her mother showed up drunk and she started talking about the past. The show went up in smoke. As it turned out, Roland was an undercover FBI agent who was planning an operation against a corrupt judge. The FBI's investigation blows up when the judge got wind of the plan thru Eli.
